Thankyou for your letter and enclosure - your father's memory astounds me - even though I wrote Atlantic Ferry with Derek I just could not have achieved such a complete picture of the film as he has.
In answer to your queries. As far as I know "Gigantic" was a figment of the final scriptwriter's imagination, also I always understood that David was drowned at sea on another occasion and also I don't think that Mary went to America and came back on Britannia. I also think Mr Donaldson is fictitious. One has no redress what the film companies do to one's original story once the film is sold.
I am proposing to go down to Hove to see Peter MacIver, he wants(?) to see the final script. Also I have some stills of the film and some early pictures of Charles MacIver which might be of interest.
